At a projected cost of $743 million, the historic Bethlehem Steel Plant
is now being transformed into an elaborate resort consisting of gaming
facilities, 300 luxury hotel rooms, 9 restaurants, 200,000 sq ft of upscale
shopping outlets, and 46,000 sq ft of multi-purpose space. There are also
plans for the inclusion of residential units, museums, art facilities,
and theatres to occupy the vast 126 acres of the industrial plant site.
The Bethlehem Steel site is an American landmark, once employing tens of
thousands, and producing the steel for such remarkable sites as the Golden
Gate Bridge and numerous NYC skyscrapers. The new facilities preserve
the legacy of the company by their unique industrial design - from exposed
piping and brick walls to the reuse of factory parts.
Binsky & Snyder was called upon to provide the mechanical contracting
needs for the ambitious schedule. Binsky worked diligently, coordinating
with the other companies to ensure the successful opening of the casino
in 2009, with only 9 months from start to finish.
Over 20,000 feet of piping, 17 air handlers, and 272 hot water and chilled
water coils operate according to design to meet the HVAC needs of the
exciting new facility.
