Goldman Sachs 30 Hudson Street

Goldman Sachs 30 Hudson Street

The Goldman Sachs Tower is currently the tallest building in New Jersey. The 781 ft high complex has 42-stories and 1.5 million sq ft of space. It sits immediately on the waterfront overlooking the Hudson River and lower Manhattan. It is the blue-glass star of the Jersey City building boom of commercial and residential high rise construction. The building is certified under LEED-NC Version 2.0 of the US Green Building Council.

Binsky & Snyder was contracted to provide the cooling and technology plants for this landmark project. The project consisted of 7 massive chillers which distribute chilled water throughout the building utilizing 720’ tall 20” risers. Working in parallel to the chillers are 10 massive cooling towers located at the top of the building which distribute condenser water down 500’ tall 30” risers to the various mechanical rooms throughout the building.

The distribution was accomplished with several large pump skids located in the three main mechanical rooms. Each skid was fabricated off-site and was brought into the building in sections as large as 70,000 lbs and 40’ long. The technology plant consists of 180 remotely located secondary chilled water AC units throughout 40 floors. In total, the system provides 7500 tons of cooling capacity with 400 tons of backup.
