ImClone Systems' BB50 Manufacturing Facility
In the heart of New Jersey sits ImClone Systems, a Biopharmaceutical company committed to advancing oncology care through the development and manufacturing of targeted biological treatments. The completion of this new 250,000 square foot GMP facility in Branchburg, NJ provides ImClone with the total production capacity of 140,000 liters, the largest in the biotech industry.
This state-of-the-art manufacturing facility “Building BB50”, received FDA approval for multiple products, allowing ImClone to scale-up the production of ERBITUX® and their portfolio of novel, fully human antibodies.
Binsky & Snyder was called upon to install the facility’s High Pressure Steam Boiler Plant and Chilled Water Plant along with 125,000 feet of process and utility piping to serve the HVAC and Process Equipment. At the project’s peak the 120 man crew installed 30” and smaller diameter piping at a production rate of up to 20,000 feet per month.
The complicated 3D piping design required Binsky to have on-site model operators and engineering staff to deliver the information to the field for installation. Binsky's comprehensive isometric tracking system and procedures made sure production rate was maintained at the required levels.
Full time quality control professionals worked with field and management staff to ensure that installation and documentation exceeded the FDA validation standards. The end result being Binsky & Snyder helped deliver a premier Biotech Facility to ImClone.
